Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, appointed Avery Emerson Fisher of Belvedere-Tiburon to the California Youth Empowerment Commission.
Fisher has been a PADI Ambassadiver with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors and an ambassador for San Francisco’s Aquarium of the Bay since 2026.
Commission members are paid $100 per diem. The seat does not need Senate confirmation.
