Coastal Flood Warning: Orange County coast — significant flooding and erosion likely until 3 p.m. Sunday

The National Weather Service office in San Diego has a Coastal Flood Warning for the Orange County coast until 3 p.m. PDT Sunday, Oct. 11. NWS says significant coastal flooding and erosion are likely. Roads and walking paths may close because of high water, and low-lying homes, businesses and some critical infrastructure may flood. Erosion will be worst at the morning high tides.

After the warning ends, a Coastal Flood Advisory for minor flooding runs from 3 p.m. Sunday to 2 p.m. PDT Tuesday, Oct. 13. A Beach Hazards Statement covers Sunday, with surf of 5 to 7 feet and sets up to 9 feet.

What to do: stay out of the ocean. Keep off jetties, piers and seawalls when waves are breaking over them. Avoid flooded coastal roads and parking lots, and never drive around barricades. Move cars and belongings away from low-lying beachfront areas before high tide.
