Election Day in Colorado is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, and Summit County's mail ballots are on the way. The Summit County Clerk & Recorder said in an Oct. 5 news release that every active registered voter should get a ballot at their mailing address on file the week of Oct. 5. You don't need to ask for one.

Check your registration first: Eligible residents can register or confirm their voter information at GoVoteColorado.gov ( https://www.govotecolorado.gov ). To get a text or email when your ballot is mailed, received and counted, sign up for Colorado BallotTrax ( https://www.colorado.ballottrax.net/voter/ ). The county says every valid mail ballot is counted the same way as an in-person ballot, no matter how close a race is.

Drop boxes (open 24 hours a day, Oct. 2 through 7 p.m. on Nov. 3, under recorded video surveillance): the Summit County Old Courthouse in Breckenridge, Dillon Town Hall, the Summit County Commons in Frisco, Frisco Town Hall and Silverthorne Town Hall. Sign and seal your ballot envelope before you drop it in.

Early in-person voting: South Branch Library in Breckenridge, Monday through Friday, Oct. 19 through Nov. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to noon. Yes, you can vote on Halloween morning, costume optional.

Election Day voting centers (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 3): South Branch Library in Breckenridge, the Summit County Community and Senior Center in Frisco, and the Silverthorne Pavilion. You can vote on a machine that prints a paper ballot, hand-mark a paper ballot, or drop off your signed mail ballot. Any registered Summit County voter can use any of the three, no matter where in the county they live.

Mailing it back: Ballots must be received, not just postmarked, by 7 p.m. on Election Day. USPS, UPS and FedEx all need postage. The county asks anyone mailing a ballot to send it no later than Oct. 26; after that, use a drop box instead. All of the Clerk & Recorder's other services (motor vehicle, recording and the rest) close on Election Day so staff can run the election.
