The Office of Gov. Andy Beshear announced Oct. 12, 2026, that R/S-Godwin Truck Body Co. plans an estimated $17 million expansion in Floyd County, Kentucky, creating 65 new full-time jobs in welding, fabrication, and related skilled trades. State incentives of up to about $2.25 million are tied to job and wage targets.

The Office of Governor Andy Beshear announced on Oct. 12, 2026, that R/S-Godwin Truck Body Co. plans an estimated $17 million investment to expand in Floyd County, Kentucky. The company says the project will create 65 new full-time jobs in Eastern Kentucky.

R/S-Godwin is a fourth-generation, family-owned trucking-equipment manufacturer founded in 1968. It is part of the Godwin Group. The firm began as a local shop serving the Eastern Kentucky coal industry and later focused on dump-body production. It recently expanded to about 165,000 square feet for a powder-coat paint and primer facility.

The company plans to expand land, buildings, and machinery. Jobs listed include welding, fabrication, CNC plasma, CNC press brakes, material handling, and related skilled work. The company says it is in the early stage of acquiring more than seven adjacent acres for future manufacturing capacity.

Floyd County Judge/Executive Robbie Williams thanked the company for reinvesting in the county. Eric Ratliff, executive director of the Big Sandy Area Development District, said the project supports jobs in Floyd County and nearby areas. Company CEO Ryan Taylor said the Godwin Group is partnering with the state, Floyd County, and surrounding communities on the growth.

To support the project, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) in April preliminarily approved a 15-year Kentucky Business Investment agreement that can provide up to $2.1 million in performance-based tax incentives. Targets include creating and keeping 65 Kentucky-resident full-time jobs over 15 years and paying an average hourly wage of $35.84 including benefits. KEDFA also approved up to $150,000 in Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act incentives for eligible construction and equipment sales-and-use tax. Workforce providers may offer recruiting, placement, and training help.
