Missouri: dyed diesel now allowed on state highways for any vehicle through Dec. 31 (Oct. 9, 2026)
Gov. Mike Kehoe signed Executive Order 26-20 on Oct. 9, 2026, letting any motor vehicle use tax-free dyed (off-road) diesel on Missouri-run highways through Dec. 31, 2026, and keeping higher farm weight limits.
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe signed Executive Order 26-20 on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026. It widens last week’s Executive Order 26-19 so that any motor vehicle, for any purpose, can run on dyed diesel on highways the state operates.
Dyed diesel is the red-tinted off-road fuel sold without motor-fuel tax, mostly for farm equipment. State law normally bars it on public roads. The order suspends that rule and its penalties, and tells state agencies and officers not to issue administrative, civil or criminal penalties to drivers covered by it.
The governor’s office says the order matches a federal executive order on emergency diesel tax relief. The temporary higher weight limits for farm loads from EO 26-19 also carry over.
