Lauderdale County: NWS Jackson warns of flash flooding in southern Lauderdale County, including Meridian, until 7:15 p.m. CDT (5:15 p.m. Pacific). Heavy rain is causing flash flooding in two more Southern counties on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026. The National Weather Service in Mobile issued a Flash Flood Warning for southwestern Baldwin County, Alabama, at 4:39 p.m. CDT until 7:45 p.m. CDT (5:45 p.m. Pacific). Fort Morgan, Gulf Highlands, and Gasque are named. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen there, with 2 to 3 more inches possible. The National Weather Service in Jackson issued a Flash Flood Warning for southern Lauderdale County, Mississippi, at 4:18 p.m. CDT until 7:15 p.m. CDT (5:15 p.m. Pacific). Meridian, Marion, and Toomsuba are among the places named. Between 1 and 3 inches have fallen, with 1 to 3 more possible.

What to do: do not drive through water on the road. Turn around, don’t drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles. Six inches of moving water can knock a person down. A foot or two of moving water can float a car. You cannot tell how deep it is from the driver’s seat. Stay away from flooded underpasses, creeks, and low spots. If water is rising around you, move to higher ground. If you are trapped, call 911. Do not treat the end time as an all-clear until weather.gov says the warning is over.
