Coos County emergency alerts through OR-Alert

Sign up for Coos County emergency alerts at oralert.gov. The county homepage points at preparedness resources. An empty Notice Nearby card is not an all-clear.

Coos County’s Notice Nearby page did not show a county email alert on October 3, 2026. The county homepage does say to get preparedness, alerts, and emergency resources. That line is a door. It is not a list of tonight’s warnings.

Oregon’s finder is oralert.gov. It is not one inbox for the whole state. Search the county, or text a ZIP code to 888777 for a basic alert. The state page says Everbridge is the system used by all 36 Oregon counties, alerts are free, and a phone plan may still charge for texts. Text STOP to end texts. An empty Notice Nearby alert card is not an all-clear. TripCheck, at tripcheck.com, is the highway and weather map. Use it for closures. Use OR-Alert for the warning from public safety. Do not wait for a card on noticenearby.com in a real emergency.

Coos Bay weather and a county board agenda are different notices. A fog bank on a forecast widget is not a board hearing, and a board packet is not an evacuation order. The seat city is Coquille. Coastal towns including Coos Bay and Bandon post some of their own notices. Read the letterhead.
