Crook County emergency alerts through OR-Alert
Crook County emergency alerts start at oralert.gov. County CivicAlerts on the homepage are news items, not an all-clear.
Crook County’s Notice Nearby alert slot was empty on October 3, 2026. The county homepage uses CivicAlerts for county news. Those alerts are meeting and press items. They are not a substitute for an emergency warning.
Oregon’s finder is oralert.gov. It is not one inbox for the whole state. Search the county, or text a ZIP code to 888777 for a basic alert. The state page says Everbridge is the system used by all 36 Oregon counties, alerts are free, and a phone plan may still charge for texts. Text STOP to end texts. An empty Notice Nearby alert card is not an all-clear. TripCheck, at tripcheck.com, is the highway and weather map. Use it for closures. Use OR-Alert for the warning from public safety. Do not wait for a card on noticenearby.com in a real emergency.
The rabies note on the homepage is a health advisory, not proof that OR-Alert has a message queued. Sign up for both the county’s own news list, if you want it, and OR-Alert for hazards. Prineville is the seat. The airport and fair events on the county site are not hearings unless the agenda says they are.
