Local brief
Malheur County’s own November 3, 2026 election dates
Malheur County mails local ballots October 14, 2026. Register by October 13. Postmarks count for that registration deadline. Drop boxes close at 8 p.m. on November 3.
Malheur County’s clerk page, opened October 3, 2026, says the current election is November 3, 2026. Military and overseas absentee ballots will be mailed on or before September 19, 2026. Out-of-state absentee ballots will be mailed October 5, 2026. Local ballots will be mailed October 14, 2026. If a local ballot has not arrived by Friday, October 23, 2026, the page says to contact the office.
The last day for new Oregon voters to register for this election is Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The county page says postmarks do count for that registration deadline. Return a ballot to an official drop box no later than 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, or by mail postmarked no later than Election Day. Drop sites are open from the 20th day before the election through Election Day only. The page describes where a drop box sits, including street names. Those names are not copied here. Open the clerk’s page for the place.
The state page opened October 3, 2026 says the registration deadline is October 13 and that counties begin mailing ballots to active voters on October 14. Inactive registrations do not get a ballot until they are fixed. Statewide races are on every ballot, including Governor and U.S. Senator. There are no statewide ballot measures. Party affiliation does not change what is on a general-election ballot. Local lines still depend on the address on the registration.
A mailed ballot must be postmarked by Election Day. The state says a postmarked ballot can arrive up to seven days later and still count, and that the safer mail date is October 27. A drop-box ballot must be in by 8 p.m. on November 3. The drop-box locator is planned about 20 days before Election Day. Sign the return envelope yourself. If the signature does not match, or you forgot to sign, the county sends a challenge. You have 21 days after the election to fix it. Notice Nearby does not register voters and does not certify results.
Candidate filing dates on the same page (August 18 and August 25, 2026) are already past. Do not tell a new candidate those windows are still open. The seat is Vale. Ontario is a city in the county, not the county seat. A city notice is not the clerk’s calendar.
