Local brief

TripCheck is Oregon’s road-and-weather notice board

ODOT’s TripCheck map is the live source for Oregon highway conditions, chain rules, and cameras. It is not a county meeting agenda and not OR-Alert.

TripCheck is the Oregon Department of Transportation’s public road-and-weather site. It is the right first stop for highway closures, chain requirements, cameras, and winter travel, not a county board agenda. The live site includes a road-conditions map, NOAA forecasts, cameras, a trucking section, chain-law notes, rest areas, and sno-park information. ODOT also points people to 511.

County hubs on Notice Nearby should not copy a camera image or invent a closure. If a storm is blocking a pass, link TripCheck and say the map is the live record. Conditions change in minutes. A sentence published in the morning can be wrong by noon.

TripCheck is not the same as OR-Alert. TripCheck describes roads. OR-Alert is how a county or tribe texts you about a hazard. Use both in a flood or a winter storm. Neither one is a substitute for an evacuation order from the sheriff or emergency manager.

Notice Nearby’s state page can name TripCheck in the traffic desk. Do not scrape the map into a standing “closure” card with no timestamp. If we post a road brief, the first line should say the time it was checked and tell the reader to reload TripCheck.
