Report an Alabama Power outage at https://outagemap.alabamapower.com/ or call 1-800-888-2726. Customers of an electric cooperative or city utility should report to that utility directly.
Generators: run them outdoors only, at least 20 feet from windows, doors and vents. Never run a generator, grill or camp stove inside a home, garage, carport or tent, even with the door open (CDC and Ready.gov guidance).
Carbon monoxide has no color or smell. Use battery-powered CO alarms. If anyone feels dizzy, weak, sick to the stomach or confused, get to fresh air right away and call 911.
Downed lines: treat every downed or sagging power line as live. Stay far away, never touch it or anything it is touching, don't drive over it, and don't walk through flood water that could hide one. Report it to your utility or call 911.
Turn off or unplug appliances and electronics so a power surge doesn't damage them when service comes back, and keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. More: https://www.ready.gov/power-outages
