Ended: This Flash Flood Warning ended at 7 a.m. PDT Sunday, Oct. 11, and the National Weather Service no longer lists it as of 8:34 a.m. PDT Sunday, Oct. 11. Check weather.gov for any new alerts. Water can stay on roads and in washes after a warning ends, so still do not drive into floodwater.

What happened: Heavy rain fell on the hills and canyons of south Orange County, where water runs off fast into creeks, streets and underpasses. The National Weather Service office in San Diego warned that flash flooding was happening or about to start. Up to 1 inch of rain fell.

Where: The warning covers southeastern Orange County. Places NWS named include San Clemente, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Juan Capistrano, Las Flores, Ortega Highway and Coto De Caza.

Until when: The warning ran until 7 a.m. PDT Sunday, Oct. 11 and has ended.

What to do: Turn around, don't drown. Never drive or walk into floodwater. Six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one to two feet can carry away a car. Stay away from creeks, streams, washes, rivers and low roads. Do not drive around barricades. If water starts rising near you, go to higher ground right away. Flooded roads are hard to see in the dark.
