Ended: The National Weather Service canceled this Flash Flood Warning early, at 11:41 a.m. EDT Sunday (8:41 a.m. PDT). It had been set to run until 1 p.m. EDT Sunday, Oct. 11 (10 a.m. PDT). What happened: Thunderstorms are dropping heavy rain across parts of Kentucky, where creeks, streams and low roads can flood quickly. The National Weather Service office in Jackson KY warned that flash flooding was happening or about to start. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.

Where: The warning covers northwestern Bath County in east-central Kentucky. Places NWS named include Flemingsburg, Owingsville, Sherburne, Tilton, Pecks Ridge, Pebble, Craintown, Oakley, Bethel, Odessa, Elizaville and Reynoldsville.

Until when: The warning had been set to run until 1 p.m. EDT Sunday, Oct. 11 (10 a.m. PDT), but NWS canceled it early at 11:41 a.m. EDT.

What to do: Turn around, don't drown. Never drive or walk into floodwater. Six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one to two feet can carry away a car. Stay away from creeks, streams, washes, rivers and low roads. Do not drive around barricades. If water starts rising near you, go to higher ground right away. Flooded roads are hard to see in the dark.
