Watch or warning? A Tornado Watch means storms could make tornadoes, so get ready and keep an eye on the sky and your phone. A Tornado Warning means a tornado is happening or about to happen near you. That is when you take cover right away.

What to do now: Pick your safe room before storms arrive. The best place is a basement, or a small room in the middle of the house on the lowest floor, with no windows, like a bathroom, closet or hallway. Keep your phone charged and turn on emergency alerts. If you live in a mobile home, know where the nearest sturdy building is and plan to go there if a warning is issued. If a Tornado Warning is issued for you, go to your safe room right away and cover your head and neck.
