Garlin Murl Conner’s four Silver Stars are locked by published 3d Infantry Division general-order citation texts in the Military Times Hall of Valor. The Congressional Medal of Honor Society holds the Medal of Honor citation for Houssen, France, January 24, 1945 — an upgrade from the Distinguished Service Cross, presented to his widow at the White House on June 26, 2018. This decorations page records Silver Star only from those fetched sources. It will not invent Purple Heart or Bronze Star Medal chips this run: Army.mil and defense.gov features that name those awards returned Access Denied during pack build, and wound language in the Medal of Honor citation is not enough to mint a Purple Heart chip.
Near Houssen, Conner ran forward under fire with telephone wire, directed artillery from a shallow ditch for hours, and finally called fire onto his own position to break a German counterattack. That citation is the public Medal of Honor record. The four Silver Stars are the published GO record. Service crosses and the Medal of Honor are not badge types on this register’s medal row.
