Jared C. Monti’s Bronze Star and Purple Heart are named in the National Museum of the U.S. Army biography of his service. The same institutional page places those decorations beside the Medal of Honor awarded posthumously in 2009. This decorations page records the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart from that NMSA list. It will not invent a Silver Star the NMSA opening award sentence does not carry, and it will not place a Medal of Honor chip on this awards row.
In Nuristan Province in June 2006, Monti’s patrol came under attack from a much larger force. He repeatedly left cover to reach a wounded Soldier in the open and was mortally wounded on a later attempt. That action is the public Medal of Honor record. The Bronze Star and Purple Heart are the published decoration names on the Army museum biography. They are not the same sentence.
