Juan Solorio’s Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart are named posthumously in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ #VeteranOfTheDay profile of his Army career. Born 23 November 1972 in Dallas, Solorio enlisted in 1993 and made the Army a career through Fort Hood, Hawaii, Fort Bragg, and Fort Lewis. He deployed to Iraq in October 2004 after work as a sniper instructor. On 4 March 2005 an IED struck near his vehicle in Mosul during an enemy attack. He was thirty-two. He was laid to rest at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. The Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart are the published decoration names.
