Ross Andrew McGinnis was nineteen when a grenade came through the gunner’s hatch in Adhamiyah on December 4, 2006. The Medal of Honor citation is the record of the warning and the choice. The Purple Heart follows the death. The Bronze Star Medal is on the Army’s published decorations list that accompanies that official account.
A Silver Star was the interim award. It was upgraded. This register will not list the interim medal as if he still held it. The war page already says so.
He is buried at Arlington, Section 60. He is not missing. The decorations row on his Iraq page shows Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal only — the awards this first batch can cite without inventing a device or a second valor medal.
