The non-trap

Assume the model lead evaporates in a quarter. Assume the magnet license tightens on November 10. Assume the magazine is already thin. Spend the next 24 months on inputs that still matter after those three sentences are true.

A 24-month list

Motors and magazines. Rocket-motor lines, thermal batteries, solid propellant, PAC-3 / THAAD / SM-6 / Tomahawk and the cheap cousins that can print before those lines mature. Eighteen plants in the ground are only useful if they finish.

Yards and repair. Dry docks, submarine throughput, allied hulls with American weapons, tenders and repair ships that can live in theater. A 450-ship briefing that arrives as unmanned PowerPoint is not a dock.

Magnets and metals. Mine-to-magnet that does not run through a MOFCOM form. Gallium, germanium, graphite backups. Do not let the 2027 Chinese-magnet ban slip because the substitute failed.

Firm power. Transformers, gas and nuclear that can actually interconnect, base microgrids that do not share a single aisle with a civilian training campus. Data centers on bases should prove they do not steal readiness watts.

Cheap mass. One-way air and sea drones, containerized cruise, decoys, counter-swarm. Commercial shops. Two-year sprints. Accept ugly.

Undersea and space. The two commons where the United States still holds a real edge. Protect the boats. Harden the constellations. Do not trade either for a larger chatbot.

AI in its proper job. Targeting, maintenance, yard scheduling, magazine accounting, swarm control, counter-distillation. Not a theory of victory. Not a permitting slogan.

What to stop pretending

That a six-month software lead is a war-winning monopoly. That export licenses are a foundry. That capital expenditure at a hyperscaler is the same thing as a munitions plant. That the industrial base will recover on the same clock as a product launch.

Close of series

Finite Inputs started with a thesis: processing power is being treated as the scarce strategic resource while the adversary spends the same scarce inputs on weapons, yards, and power plants. The nine parts after that were the ledger. Magazines empty in weeks. Yards decide replacement. Grids decide compute and factories alike. Magnets sit on a foreign license. Chips pause, then leak. Swarms belong to whoever can print them. Weights copy. Allies have steel if Washington will use it.

The non-trap is not anti-AI. It is anti-alibi. Build the things that still shoot after the file has left the building.
