Christian Michael Pike’s Bronze Star Medal with Valor and Purple Heart are named in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ #VeteranOfTheDay profile of his Navy cryptologic support to SEAL Team Five in Afghanistan. The U.S. Navy Memorial listing corroborates Bronze Star with Combat “V” and Purple Heart. This decorations page records those two types from that public record and will not invent a second Bronze Star or a device count the sources do not state.
Born 19 November 1981 while his mother served overseas, raised through Navy and Army moves, and enlisted in August 2001, Pike served on USS Cleveland, at Navy Information Operations commands, and with Naval Special Warfare Support Activity 1. On 10 March 2013 in Maiwand District he was hit in a firefight; he died of wounds on 13 March at Landstuhl. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. The Bronze Star with Valor and Purple Heart are the published decoration names.
