Dallas Fed: Texas 2026 job-growth forecast softens to 1.2 percent
The September 21, 2026, Texas Employment Forecast from the Dallas Fed projects 1.2 percent job growth for 2026 (80 percent confidence band 0.5–1.9 percent), down from the prior month after first-quarter benchmark revisions.
On September 21, 2026, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas said its Texas Employment Forecast now points to 1.2 percent job growth in 2026, with an 80 percent confidence interval of 0.5 to 1.9 percent.
The Bank said the outlook softened from the prior month, with first-quarter benchmark revisions accounting for most of the decline. The forecast averages four models that use projected national GDP, oil futures prices, and Texas and U.S. leading indexes.
Dallas Fed economist Luis Torres noted that Texas employment rose in August and that year-to-date job growth stood at 1.0 percent — below the state’s long-run average of about 2 percent. This is a District research release, not a Board rate decision.
