Jason M. Swindle enlisted in July 2005, completed two Iraq tours and one in Afghanistan with the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor, and was leading a mounted patrol in Panjway when an RPG struck on 20 September 2012. He was twenty-four. The Department of Veterans Affairs’ #VeteranOfTheDay profile names a posthumous Bronze Star and Purple Heart. This decorations page records those two types from that VA list.
