Crewmember of RF-4C 65-0888 (Gigolo) lost January 17, 1967 on a photo reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam after departing Udorn RTAFB; no radio contact after takeoff; search unsuccessful. Aircraft commander Maj. Gary G. Wright also Unaccounted For. Remains not recovered. Memorialized on the Courts of the Missing, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Active Pursuit is an open investigative track, not a recovered grave.
Fredrick Joseph Wozniak left Alpena, Michigan, for the Air Force and was still a first lieutenant when the war put him in the RF-4C. By mid-January 1967 he was flying photo reconnaissance with the 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron out of Udorn, Thailand — unarmed runs that mapped targets for someone else's strike.
On January 17 he went north in Phantom 65-0888, call sign Gigolo, with Maj. Gary G. Wright. After the airplane left Udorn there was no further radio call. When the fuel clock said they should have been home, search crews worked the intended track and found nothing. Neither man came back among the 1973 releases. While carried missing, the Air Force promoted Wozniak to major.
