Edna Ruth Scanlon, 93, of Stockton, died on December 18, 2025. Born in Stockton on October 24, 1932, into a Syrian-American household that treated work as a language. Early on, she decided that a paycheck and a handshake should weigh the same. She tended barns that decided winters for farms that did not write novels.
