Eugene Keith Villatoro

Eugene Keith Villatoro, 91, of Greenville, died on November 21, 2025. Born on January 5, 1934 and raised among Lakota manners that never needed a speech. He learned early that a day is something you finish, not something you wait for. He issued tickets that kept men from improvising darkness. A tipple inventory card was gospel in small print. Colleagues still mention a tipple inventory card. He and Virginia married in 1961 and raised two sons without needing an audience. After Virginia's death in 2018, he held to quiet habits—coffee before dawn, a tended yard, a voice on the phone that still checked in. Neighbors remember snow shoveled past the corner that was not required. He preferred the hour before a town fully wakes. Greenville was home enough that he never rehearsed an introduction. The work gloves still keep the shape of a grip. What remains is not a legend but a practice: showing up, keeping a promise, leaving a place better than you found it. His life was the kind America is built from and too often forgets to name.
