The Texas Department of Transportation says that, weather permitting, all lanes of the Horizon Road Bridge at I-30 in Rockwall County will be closed and detoured from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, for work on the I-30 corridor expansion.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) issued a traffic advisory on Oct. 14, 2026, for a weekend closure of the Horizon Road Bridge at Interstate 30 in Rockwall County.
When. Weather permitting, all lanes of the Horizon Road Bridge will be closed and detoured starting at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2026.
What to expect. Drivers should follow posted detour signs and plan for extra travel time. TxDOT says that once the work is finished, drivers should watch for a new traffic pattern on the bridge and new connections to frontage-road lanes. Daily lane closures are listed at drivetexas.org.
Larger project. The work is part of a $348 million I-30 corridor expansion that will widen the interstate and add continuous frontage roads from State Highway 205 to the Hunt County line, and add new frontage-road bridges across Lake Ray Hubbard. TxDOT expects the overall project to be complete by early 2028. It is part of TxDOT’s Texas Clear Lanes effort to relieve congestion in major metro areas.
Media. TxDOT lists Victoria Lara as the public information contact for media inquiries (Victoria.Lara@txdot.gov).
