U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said on Oct. 5, 2026, that officers at the Laredo Port of Entry in Laredo, Texas, seized 47.06 pounds of alleged cocaine with a listed street value of $628,458.

What happened: CBP says the stop was on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2026, at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge. An officer sent a 2017 Nissan Rogue to secondary inspection. After a check by a CBP canine and a scan with a nonintrusive inspection system, officers found 18 packages hidden in the vehicle.

Who was arrested: CBP describes the driver as a 35-year-old Mexican citizen and the passenger as a 30-year-old U.S. citizen, and does not name them. Both were arrested. CBP seized the drugs and the vehicle, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents are investigating. The release lists no charges or court dates. An arrest is not a conviction, and anyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
