Federal brief

Agency Information Collection Activities; Comment Request; Consolidated State Plan

Comment window open to December 4, 2026, on keeping the K-12 Consolidated State Plan paperwork as-is (OMB 1810-0576, Docket ED-2026-SCC-2938). FR 2026-20291.

Every state that takes federal K-12 money files a long plan with the U.S. Department of Education. The department wants to keep that paperwork the same for another round — and it is asking the public first.

The form is the Consolidated State Plan, OMB Control Number 1810-0576. It lets a state education agency, working with the Governor, apply for several Elementary and Secondary Education Act programs in one plan instead of many separate ones. It also covers guidance for peer review of state tests.

By the numbers: the department estimates 52 responses a year and 108,155 total burden hours. The request is an “extension without change,” so the form itself would not be rewritten.

Comments are due December 4, 2026, through regulations.gov under Docket ID ED-2026-SCC-2938. Questions about the collection go to Melissa Siry at 202-260-0926. Parents and school board members can comment too, not just state officials.
