Severity: Moderate. Area: Sierra Madre Range. ...SEASON'S FIRST WINTER STORM TO IMPACT THE SIERRA MADRE, SNOWY, AND SOUTHERN LARAMIE RANGES... .An upper level system will drift eastward and produce accumulating snow at elevations above 7000 feet through Thursday evening. Favorable upslope flow from the north to northeast at the Snowy Ranges are forecasted to produce snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches through Thursday evening. As the system center moves east, winds shift out of a more northerly direction favorable for snow on the Sierra Madre Ranges starting overnight Wednesday. Snow levels are expected to reach the I-80 Summit of the Southern Laramie Ranges early Wednesday morning. Locally heavier snow totals are possible in the advis National Weather Service alert.
