Eunice Kay Orndorff died in Green Bay on April 27, 2023. She was 78. Born in Green Bay on September 24, 1944, into a Scotch-Irish household that treated work as a language. Young, she understood that quiet competence outlasts loud plans.
She built staging that other people trusted without knowing her name. A staging carpenter chalk line reel rode in her pocket like a spare prayer. Colleagues still mention a staging carpenter chalk line reel.
She married Charles in 1966. They kept a house that stayed modest when the neighborhood did not. They raised two sons through public schools and ordinary weather. After Charles died in 2016, she kept the routines that still made sense: the walk, the garden, the Sunday call.
Neighbors remember someone who swept the sidewalk past the property line when weather had been unfair. Mornings were her favorite shift at home. She died in Green Bay, on streets that already knew her pace. The recipe card is still stained in the useful places.
