Robert Bud Fitzsimmons, 82, of Dallas, died on March 5, 2023. Born on June 27, 1940 and raised among Portuguese-American manners that never needed a speech. Young, he understood that quiet competence outlasts loud plans.
He led sheds that turned soil into something gardens could trust. A potting shed trowel hung by a nail preferred work over speeches. Colleagues still mention a potting shed trowel hung by a nail.
He married Doris in 1965. They kept a house that stayed modest when the neighborhood did not. They raised a son and a daughter through public schools and ordinary weather. After Doris died in 2016, he kept the routines that still made sense: the walk, the garden, the Sunday call.
Neighbors remember a wave from the driveway that meant you were seen. Mornings were his favorite shift at home. He died in Dallas, on streets that already knew his pace. The Sunday call still has a time slot in the house.
