Ruth Ann Kingsbury

Ruth Ann Kingsbury of Burlington died on May 26, 2023 at the age of 84. She was born on August 10, 1938 in a African-American family that measured love in finished chores. She learned early that a day is something you finish, not something you wait for. She issued parts that kept barns from improvising danger. A parts crib bin label set rebuilt more trust than lawyers. Colleagues still mention a parts crib bin label set. She married Thomas in 1960. They kept a house that stayed modest when the neighborhood did not. They raised a daughter and two sons through public schools and ordinary weather. After Thomas died in 2016, she kept the routines that still made sense: the walk, the garden, the Sunday call. Neighbors remember quiet help with a stuck mailbox or a heavy trash can. Mornings were her favorite shift at home. She died in Burlington, on streets that already knew her pace. The radio is still tuned to the station that played while work got done.
