Addendum, Saturday night, Oct. 3, 2026: a human shelter is open for Bouquet Fire residents. It is the Community Room at the Castaic Sports Complex, in Castaic, Los Angeles County. The times and the source links are in the Addendum / Update section at the end of this page. If you are under an evacuation order, leave now. A shelter is a place to go. It is not a reason to wait.
A brush fire named the Bouquet Fire is burning in the Angeles National Forest, northeast of Santa Clarita, in Los Angeles County. If you live in a zone under an evacuation order, leave now. Do not wait to see flames from your street.
This page is a plain-language brief. It uses the CAL FIRE incident page as the fire record, plus posts from Cal OES, Ready Los Angeles County, and the Governor’s office. It does not invent a death count, a count of burned homes, or a zone line that those sources did not print.
Zone lines already changed once this afternoon. A list on this page is a snapshot, not a lock. Before you decide you are outside the fire, open the live map.
What officials say right now
CAL FIRE’s Bouquet Fire page was last updated at 6:55 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026. At that update the fire was 1,000 acres. It started at 3:19 p.m. the same day. The listed spot is Bouquet Canyon Road and Quarry Road, in the Angeles National Forest. The map point on the page is about 34.56 north, 118.40 west.
The page says this is not a CAL FIRE incident. The agency in charge is the U.S. Forest Service, Angeles National Forest. CAL FIRE is still the public page posting the size and the zone list. The cause is under investigation. No incident management team was listed on that update.
At 3:31 p.m. the same page said the fire was threatening structures and power lines. That is not the same as a count of homes lost. The page does not print a number of structures destroyed, damaged, or saved. It does not print any injuries or deaths. This brief will not add those numbers.
Cal OES, the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, posted at 4:30 p.m. PT that evacuation orders and evacuation warnings are in place for the Bouquet Fire in Los Angeles County. The post says to use official info, sign up for alerts, listen to local authorities, and leave now if you live in an area under an evacuation order. The link in that post goes to AlertLA.
Ready Los Angeles County posted an update timestamped 4:15 p.m. The account said an evacuation order had been issued in marked zones and that people should leave now. It said more zones had been placed under an evacuation warning and that those residents should prepare to leave. That post also points to AlertLA.
The Governor’s office posted at 5:58 p.m. PT. The post says people in the area impacted by the Bouquet Fire should follow local evacuation orders and guidance from emergency officials. It points to Ready.ca.gov for emergency information and safety resources.
A KTLA post at 7:12 p.m. PT said the fire was 1,000 acres. That matches the 6:55 p.m. line on the CAL FIRE page. KTLA is a newsroom, not the fire agency. The acreage in this brief comes from CAL FIRE.
An order is not the same as a warning
CAL FIRE prints the statewide meanings on the incident page. An evacuation order is an immediate threat to life. It is a lawful order to leave now. The area is closed to the public.
An evacuation warning is a possible threat to life or property. People who need extra time, and people with pets or livestock, should leave now. Everyone else in a warning zone should be packed and ready to go on a minute’s notice.
If you are not sure which one covers your house, do not guess from a social post. Look up your address on the Genasys Protect map at protect.genasys.com. Los Angeles County also tells people to use AlertLA.org and the county emergency page at lacounty.gov/emergency.
The 6:55 p.m. zone list is a snapshot
On the CAL FIRE page, the evacuation-order block — the block that sits above the timed updates — listed three zones after the 6:55 p.m. acreage update: LAC-E018, LAC-E030-B, and LAC-E031-A.
The warning block on that same page listed LAC-E016, LAC-E017, LAC-E019, LAC-E020, LAC-E021, LAC-E029, LAC-E030-A, and LAC-E031-B.
Those codes are not frozen. At 4:11 p.m. the same page’s update log listed orders for LAC-E018, LAC-E030, and LAC-E031, and warnings for LAC-E019, LAC-E020, and LAC-E021. By the later page text, some of those zones had been split into A and B pieces, and more warning zones had been added. At 3:52 p.m. the log said warnings were only being prepared for LAC-E018, LAC-E020, LAC-E021, and LAC-E031.
That is why this brief will not tell you “your street is safe” from a copied list. If the live map shows an order for your zone, leave. If it shows a warning, prepare to leave, and leave now if you need more time. If the map has changed again since 6:55 p.m., the map wins.
How fast the acreage moved
The CAL FIRE update log, all on Oct. 3, is the size record used here. At 3:28 p.m. the fire was reported at 20 acres with a moderate rate of spread. At 3:59 p.m. it was 100 acres, and more engines were requested. At 4:17 p.m. Air Attack said it was burning at a rapid rate of spread. At 4:50 p.m. it was mapped at 709.7 acres, with crews on two spot fires near the main fire. At 5:43 p.m. it was 843 acres. At 6:55 p.m. it was 1,000 acres.
The incident page does not print a containment percent on that 6:55 p.m. update. Earlier the same evening, CAL FIRE’s current-incidents table showed 0% in the containment column beside Bouquet Fire. News pages also said 0%. Until the incident page prints a containment number of its own, treat “out” or “controlled” as not established.
News stories through the evening did not agree with each other. Some said about 700 acres. Some said about 840. The later official line is 1,000. Use the incident page, not a screenshot from mid-afternoon, if you are checking size.
Roads, aircraft, and drones
The CAL FIRE page lists one road closure: Bouquet Canyon Road at Vasquez Canyon Road. Other closures can be ordered by the Highway Patrol or the Forest Service without waiting for that page. If a road is blocked, do not drive around the block.
At 4:30 p.m. incident command asked for two more Type 1 helicopters. At 6:02 p.m. fixed-wing aircraft were being released for the night because of low visibility. The same update said multiple air tankers were requested for Sunday morning.
At 4:45 p.m. Air Attack reported a possible drone over the fire. CAL FIRE’s wording is direct: flying a drone near a wildfire is a federal crime and can cost lives. If you fly, they can’t.
What to do tonight
If you are under an order, leave now. Take medicine, chargers, IDs, water, and your pets if you can do it fast. Do not spend the order looking for things you can replace.
If you are under a warning, get the car ready, tell a neighbor who might not have seen the alert, and decide where you will go. People who move slowly, and people with livestock, should leave during the warning instead of waiting for the order.
Call 911 for a life-threatening emergency. Sign up for alerts at alertla.org. Read ready.ca.gov and lacounty.gov/emergency. Check protect.genasys.com again before you go to sleep. Smoke and spot fires can put a new zone on the list after this page was written.
Firefighters are working a fire that grew from 20 acres to 1,000 acres in about three and a half hours, then lost the airplanes for the night. Give them the road. Stay out of the closed canyon.
