Heavy rain is causing flash flooding in Alabama on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026. The National Weather Service has Flash Flood Warnings for south and south central Mobile County until 6:15 p.m. CDT (4:15 p.m. Pacific) and for southwestern Shelby County until 6:15 p.m. CDT (4:15 p.m. Pacific). Radar showed 3 to 5 inches of rain already in parts of Mobile County, with 2 to 3 more possible. In Camden County, Georgia, NWS Jacksonville cancelled its Flash Flood Warnings near Kingsland by 5:41 p.m. EDT and issued a Flood Warning for southeastern Camden County until 8:45 p.m. EDT (5:45 p.m. Pacific). Flooding of creeks, streams, and low spots is happening or about to.
What to do: do not drive through water on the road. Turn around, don’t drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles. Six inches of moving water can knock a person down. A foot or two of moving water can float a car. You cannot tell how deep it is from the driver’s seat. Stay away from flooded underpasses, creeks, and low spots. If water is rising around you, move to higher ground. If you are trapped, call 911. Do not treat the end time as an all-clear until weather.gov says the warning is over.
