[HIGH] RECALL ALERT: 2019–2024 Jaguar and Land Rover MHEVs: DC-DC converter failure can cut drive power and lights
HIGH (orange). Jaguar Land Rover told NHTSA that DC-DC converter failure “will result in a loss of 12V system charging,” and that if the driver continues after the red warning, “Continuation of the journey will result in the vehicle losing motive power and coasting to a stop after a period of time, and eventually losing exterior lighting,” which “will increase the risk of a crash” (campaign 26V599000).

Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 23,677 mild-hybrid Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles (NHTSA campaign 26V599000, JLR recall E008): certain 2019–2024 Range Rover Sport; 2020–2024 Range Rover, Evoque, Discovery Sport and Defender; and 2021–2024 Velar, Discovery, Jaguar F-Pace and E-Pace. A DC-DC converter can fail under high electrical demand or from a start-up software bug, cutting 12-volt charging. A red “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected” warning appears within about 10 seconds; if ignored, the vehicle can later lose drive power and exterior lighting. This expands earlier campaign 26V248000. JLR reports 393 U.S. claims/field reports and no accidents, injuries or fires in the U.S. from this concern.
What to do: check your VIN now. If you see the red electrical-fault warning, pull over safely and contact a dealer. Dealers will update the software free of charge. Interim owner letters are expected November 13, 2026. Land Rover: 800-637-6837 (E008). NHTSA hotline: 1-888-327-4236. No do-not-drive or park-outside advisory has been set.
