The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Texas announced on September 15, 2026 that it is accepting applications for major conservation programs. NRCS accepts applications year-round, but Texas producers who want to be considered for fiscal year 2027 funding should apply by November 13, 2026.

NRCS State Conservationist Kristy Oates encouraged producers interested in conserving natural resources and keeping operations productive to contact their local NRCS office.

Programs in the Texas batching window

  • Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP): technical and financial help for resource concerns including water and air quality, soil health, reduced soil erosion, and related practice systems — including irrigation-related practices when they fit a producer’s conservation plan.
  • Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP): builds on existing conservation efforts while strengthening the operation.
  • Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP): Agricultural Land Easement component can protect agricultural land from development; Wetland Reserve Easement component helps protect, restore, and enhance wetlands previously degraded by agricultural uses.

NRCS also noted additional financial assistance through the Regenerative Pilot Program (RPP) for whole-farm regenerative practices via a single EQIP/CSP application path, and Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) projects with a ranking date to be announced later.

Farm Service vs. NRCS — who to call

NRCS delivers these conservation technical and financial assistance programs. Many producers also work with the Farm Service Agency at the same USDA Service Center for commodity, disaster, and other farm programs. For EQIP/CSP/ACEP applications in this Texas window, start with your local Natural Resources Conservation Service office.

How to read this deadline

  • Applications are accepted year-round; November 13, 2026 is the Texas cutoff to compete in the FY2027 funding batch.
  • Missing the date does not permanently bar you — it can push consideration to a later cycle.
  • This paper does not invent acreage caps, ranking scores, or payment rates. Those come from NRCS after an application and conservation plan conversation.
