Amazon introduces a completely redesigned Kindle family

Key takeaways Kindle: The most pocket-sized Kindle ever, with a flush-front display, edge-to-edge color, and available with an aluminum back. Kindle Paperwhite: Thinner and lighter with exceptional contrast and clarity for crisp, clear text. Kindle Colorsoft: Paper-like color that’s easy on the eyes for hours of comfortable reading. New accessories include a Bluetooth page-turn remote and magnetic case with integrated page-turn buttons. For nearly two decades, Kindle has been the place where readers escape, get lost in a story, and find something new to be curious about. That’s resonating now more than ever—Kindle has seen double-digit growth globally for three consecutive years with more than 720 billion pages read in 2025 alone. With notifications, texts, and emails competing for our attention, distraction-free reading isn’t slowing down—it’s accelerating. Today, we’re introducing a completely redesigned Kindle lineup—rethought at every level to deliver the best Kindle experience yet. 7 page-turners to discover with Kindle Unlimited right now Twisty thrillers, swoony romance, epic romantasy, and page-to-screen favorites—these standout reads show just how much Kindle Unlimited has to offer. A new Kindle design and display architecture The team redesigned the new family of devices from the ground up, beginning with a newly designed reverse stack display construction—a first for the e-reader category. Every device now features a flush-front display—no raised border interrupting the reading surface. Just a seamless edge-to-edge display for an uninterrupted page and thinner, more portable device. The physical color of each device now wraps seamlessly from front to back. That means the color you choose is visible whether the Kindle is on a café table, a nightstand, or tucked in a tote bag. The lineup introduces stylish new colors: Ube (a rich purple), Alpine Sky, Seaglass Green, and Graphite, and brings Fig to e-readers for the first time. The new Kindle: lighter, smaller, faster The all-new 6-inch Kindle is the most pocket-sized Kindle we’ve ever made. With 16GB of storage, up to 6 weeks of battery life, and 30% faster book opening than the previous release, it is lighter and features a new seamless flush-front design. This required rethinking how the display, front light, and touch layers are assembled and bonded. We’re also introducing edge-to-edge color across the entire family. The housing is made from recycled materials with a 100% recycled cobalt battery. Starting at $149.99 and available in Ube and Graphite. This 6-inch Kindle is also available for the first time with an aluminum back —same pocket-sized form factor, same flush-front display, but with a premium feel you notice the moment you pick it up and that younger readers are used to from reading on other devices. The housing is crafted from 80% recycled aluminum with a matte finish. Available with 32GB at $189.99 in two colors, Alpine Sky Aluminum and Seaglass Green Aluminum. The new Kindle Paperwhite Kindle Paperwhite The all-new Kindle Paperwhite is thinner and lighter than the previous lineup, waterproof with an adjustable warm light for comfortable reading at any hour, and up to 12 weeks of battery life on a single charge. The Paperwhite display uses an oxide-thin film transistor backplane and is the largest Kindle Paperwhite display with the highest contrast ratio—delivering deep blacks and crisp text, and images that pop off the screen, whether you’re reading in bright sunlight or under the covers at night. The Signature Edition adds aluminum rear housing, 32 GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, pogo pin dock charging, and double tap to turn pages—all while remaining thinner than the previous version. Available with 16 GB of storage in Graphite starting at $199.99. Signature Edition with 32 GB of storage is available in Graphite and Seaglass Green at $249.99. Kindle Colorsoft delivers richer, paper-like color Kindle Colorsoft The new Kindle Colorsoft delivers paper-like color that’s easy on the eyes without the harsh glare of a tablet. Whether you’re scrolling through colorful covers in your library or flipping through a travel guide, comic, or graphic novel, the display makes color reading feel natural. To achieve paper-like color, our Kindle Colorsoft display includes a light-guide with nitride LEDs to enhance color and increase brightness, all without washing out the details. It uses an oxide backplane with custom waveforms for fast performance and a higher contrast on both color and black-and-white content. Our latest Kindle Colorsoft has a completely redesigned display, using the reverse printing technology we applied across the lineup for edge-to-edge color. The light guide contains micro-deflectors that minimize stray light and improve uniformity, and an ultra-thin optical coating in the display stack improves clarity. The Colorsoft Signature Edition adds aluminum housing, 32 GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, double tap to turn pages, and pogo pin dock charging. Available with 16 GB of storage in Graphite starting at $289.99. Signature Edition with 32 GB of storage is available in Graphite and Fig at $319.99.
