Isaac Chauncey

Isaac Chauncey’s War of 1812 file is a Lake Ontario logistics and squadron card, not a single ship duel. From the Sackets Harbor yard he built and directed the American naval force that contested British control of the lake — convoy, shipbuilding tempo, and fleet sorties dated in Navy Department returns and contemporary squadron correspondence through 1812–1814. His command kept Dearborn’s and later Brown’s armies supplied across the Ontario shore while Yeo’s British squadron pressed the same water.

Earlier Mediterranean service and later Navy Board years sit on other shelves. This register lists Lake Ontario command: Sackets Harbor, shipyard output, and the running contest for the lake.
