Marcelino Serna’s World War I file is a 355th Infantry, 89th Division card from Saint-Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne. On September 12, 1918, near the Saint-Mihiel salient, Private Serna’s scout actions — silencing machine-gun positions and capturing enemy soldiers under fire — earned the Distinguished Service Cross, pinned later by Pershing; French Croix de Guerre awards followed. He was wounded by sniper fire days before the Armistice. The citations and unit returns fix the date and sector.
Postwar El Paso life and later Texas Legislative Medal of Honor recognition are other chapters. This register keeps Company B, 355th Infantry, September 12, 1918, and the DSC result.
