George Kurtz built CrowdStrike so Falcon would be a platform, not a point product

Cybersecurity founders who still run the company are rarer than breezy keynotes. George Kurtz is one of them. As CEO and founder of CrowdStrike, he remains the named leader on the company’s executive pages — an entrepreneur who commercialized cloud-native endpoint defense and kept the CEO seat through scale.

CrowdStrike sells the Falcon platform: cloud-delivered endpoint protection, threat intelligence, identity security, and related services that enterprises use to detect and stop breaches. Falcon is the product name customers and partners repeat; the platform pitch — modules on a shared architecture rather than a stack of disconnected tools — is the business story Kurtz has told since the company’s early years.

Before CrowdStrike he founded Foundstone (acquired by McAfee), then served as McAfee’s worldwide CTO and enterprise general manager. Earlier security work spanned Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers; he co-authored the widely known book Hacking Exposed. Seton Hall accounting and an inactive CPA credential round out a builder’s résumé that started in assurance and moved to product.

He remains listed as CEO and founder while CrowdStrike publishes Falcon platform releases under that executive banner. For a people-first profile, the arc is continuous: founder invents the platform, founder still runs the company that sells it.
