Area: Rabun; Habersham; Avery; Yancey; Mitchell; Buncombe; Macon; Southern Jackson; Transylvania; Henderson; Caldwell Mountains; Burke Mountains; McDowell Mountains; Rutherford Mountains; Polk Mountains; Oconee Mountains; Pickens Mountains; Greenville Mountains. Strong wind gusts are occurring this morning on the downwind side of the Blue Ridge, from near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina, southwest along the Escarpment to near Bearwallow Mountain in North Carolina, and even into far northeast Georgia, including Clayton. Gusts of 35 to 50 mph may briefly occur downwind of ridges through late morning. The winds have brought down a few downed trees and power lines in some cases.
