White House: President Trump says Russia agreed to supply about 4.8 million tons of diesel (Oct. 9, 2026)
In a White House email on Oct. 9, 2026, the administration relayed President Donald J. Trump’s statement that, after a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia agreed to supply diesel fuel to the U.S. and world markets in stages: more than 300,000 tons right away, 500,000 tons in November, 1 million tons after that, and later 3 million tons. The President said diesel prices will fall. No contract details or delivery schedule were released.

The White House sent an email on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, passing along a statement President Donald J. Trump posted on Truth Social. The President said he had just finished a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin and that Russia agreed to supply diesel fuel to the American and global market.
The White House put the total at more than 4.8 million tons. Notice Nearby has not seen a contract, a buyer list or a shipping schedule, and the announcement did not say how the fuel would be bought, priced or shipped, or how it fits with existing sanctions on Russian energy.
The amounts the President named
- More than 300,000 tons "immediately."
- Another 500,000 tons during November 2026.
- 1,000,000 tons "immediately thereafter."
- Later, 3,000,000 tons "within a short period of time," depending on the condition of Russia’s diesel refineries.
The President said lower diesel prices for farmers, ranchers and truckers are his top priority and that prices will come down fast.
What it could mean locally
Diesel runs most farm equipment, freight trucks and many school buses. Any price change would show up first at truck stops and farm fuel dealers. Missouri also issued a dyed-diesel executive order this week (linked below).
